International Businessman of the Year, Black Enterprise, 2001
In 2001, Andrew Ramroop was named International Businessman of the Year by Black Enterprise, a recognition of his achievement in building Maurice Sedwell into a global tailoring house with clients in over 52 countries.
Black Enterprise has long recognised Black business leaders who have built enterprises of real substance and reach. To be named International Businessman of the Year was to be acknowledged not just within tailoring, but within the broader world of Black business excellence.
For Andrew, who had arrived in Britain from Trinidad with a skill, a suit he had made himself, and an ambition to work on Savile Row, it was a recognition that the business he had built, stitch by stitch, commission by commission, had earned its place on the world stage.
