About the House

Founded in 1938.

Maurice Sedwell began on Fleet Street before winning the Gold Medal for the Lounge Suit at the Federation of Merchant Taylors’ national competition in 1956. That recognition brought the house to Savile Row, the home of the world's finest tailors, where it has remained ever since.

Andrew Ramroop OBE joined in 1974 as an understudy to Maurice Sedwell himself. In 1988, he bought the business, becoming the first Black owner of a Savile Row tailoring house. He has dressed heads of state, sporting legends, and cultural icons. He leads the house to this day.
