Professor Ramroop, Distinction in the field of Tailoring, 2001

In 2001, the London Institute conferred upon Andrew Ramroop a professorship in recognition of his distinction in the field of tailoring.

The London Institute, which preceded the University of the Arts, London, one of the world's leading arts and design universities, does not confer such recognition lightly. It is given to practitioners who have not only mastered their craft but have advanced it, and whose work has shaped how that craft is understood and taught.

For Andrew, who had learned tailoring from the ground up, from a food stall in Trinidad to the cutting rooms of Savile Row, it was an acknowledgement that the knowledge he had built over decades was worth passing on.

It was the beginning of what would become the Savile Row Bespoke Academy, and later, the Andrew Ramroop Tailoring Standards, his commitment to ensuring that the highest standards of bespoke tailoring would survive him.
